earth
study
This study invites you to reconnect with the earth, and offers a restorative space to process, reflect and create.
Over the course of three days, we will explore ceramics from the ground up by foraging and working with wild, locally sourced clay. You will learn how to identify, process, and test raw materials for use in ceramic work, deepening your understanding of clay at its natural origin. Using handbuilding techniques, you will create forms inspired by the landscape in which we forage, incorporating native plants and found materials. Finished work will be pit fired at the beach.
This course is open to all skill levels and is ideal for those interested in material origins, process-driven work, and experimental approaches to ceramics.
